For any gamer, there will eventually be a stage when they would want to up their game. By purchasing a headset, a player could gain a distinct advantage over someone without one. I needed a good headset, but did not want to spend a large amount of money. The Tritton AX-180 headset stood out because it was decently priced and was one of the only wired headsets with good reviews.
Sound Quality
The sound quality of the Trittons is fairly good, with a decently strong bass and crisp sound. Because it is only a stereo headset, it can’t deliver surround sound for games that support it. In games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it is easy to hear footsteps of enemies from any direction and can aid the gamer greatly. 
Even with stereo sound, it is easy to determine the direction and distance of sounds. The microphone quality is great, making me easy to understand on Xbox Live, PSN, or even Ventrilo. It is leaps and bounds better than the Xbox’s default headset which definitely makes it easier for my friends and clanmates. When the headset is used for other purposes such as music, it holds up decently well, providing a good listening experience. For audiophiles who expect a lot, you may want to look somewhere else.
Ease of Use
The problem with many gaming headsets is the difficulty with connecting the equipment to the gaming console. The Tritton AX-180 uses a 3.5mm headphone plug and connects to consoles by using an RCA composite to 3.5mm female adapter. The headset is USB powered so it requires any USB port that exists on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or PCs. For use of the microphone with PCs, the headset uses a 3.5mm connector for microphone ports that are commonly found on computers and laptops. For connecting the microphone with an Xbox, there is an in-line connector for a wire that connects straight to an Xbox 360 controller. For a PS3, the USB plug is all the headset needs for using the microphone. The in-line volume and voice level control also features a microphone on/off switch which makes any audio changes extremely easy and fast. The removable microphone allows you to use the headset as just a listening device without a microphone in your way. The headset is extremely comfortable, allowing me to wear it for hours on end without any aches or pains.
Price
The headset retails for around $75 at Best Buy and other stores. In my opinion, I find it a decent price for a comfortable headset with decent audio, good build quality, and ease of use. It is a flexible headset that can be used for many platforms which is definitely a plus in my opinion. Other options would be headsets from Turtle Beach which are around the same price but are of the wireless variety.

The Trittons will last for a while and with cross-platform capabilities, it can be used for a variety of uses.
